Two years into the worst oil price rout in a generation, large and mid-sized U.S. independent producers are surviving and eyeing growth again as oil nears $50 a barrel, confounding OPEC and Saudi Arabia with their resiliency. To regain market share, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries in late 2014 pumped more oil despite growing global oversupply.

Yahoo to shut Argentina and Mexico offices

(Reuters) – Yahoo Inc plans to close its offices in Argentina and Mexico, a company spokeswoman said on Thursday. The company will maintain its Latin American operations through its teams in Brazil and Coral Gables, Florida. Yahoo declined to specify how many jobs were affected, but said the offices were “small sales-focused”. Technology news website TechCrunch first reported the closures.
